12 | LEVELA / SUBTENSION – Resampling & Writing

So here we are… The very last episode of what has been another fantastic season on Sample Genie! Each and every artist this year has brought something unique and fascinating to the teaching room, but for this month, we have put something together in a new format, something that rounds matters up with a little bit of a nod to our monthly sample pack content…. As both Subtension and Levela are highly adept at working with samples – whether their own or from other sources – they are a perfect choice of artists’ for this month’s challenge. Starting with the same Sample Genie pack (only) and with no idea of one another’s plans, they set about experimenting with the same pack in order to come up with a sketch each… We switch between the two producers working in real-time, which provides a great insight into their workflow. It was really interesting to see how they naturally approached the challenge from completely different angles, resulting in completely different outcomes. In over 3 hours of footage in total (!) this is the longest monthly episode we have ever put out and there is a ton of techniques, tricks and tools shared with viewer. As it’s so long, and to try something new, we are releasing it this month in 4 x 45 minute episodes. [episodes 1 & 2 are on the site now 3 & 4 are to follow next week]
