Just a heads up, holiday season and then the start of the new year has tied up my free time quite a bit. I have more analysis posts coming, just need to make time to type up my notes, format and post. Will aim to get this month’s Disprove tutorial covered in the next few days, have not had time to watch yet.
Everything is going well, just been busy, and any music-related time I’ve had has been spent on a batch of demos I have to have ready by the end of this month.

Happy new year to you too, and to the other SG members!
Slightly random update, but I found out a few months ago about a local monthly event where producers (broad range of genres) get to road test their music on a local venue’s Function One sound system. You submit one track for the month, twenty producers get selected, and your track gets played in full. Submitted for this month, got on the line-up, so I’m looking forward to hearing a newer piece that I’ve done. Been trying some different techniques and looking forward to hearing the work.

Any reports from your ‘system test’ of your track?

The new drum processing I’ve been doing was sounding good on the rig, I was happy with the way the bassline moved, but my actual bass was getting boring sounding a few bars in, and a lot of my midrange sounds were getting pushed out it sounded like. So taking on those notes, I now know I have to work on more variety for the bass, and how I image my mids.
I have to miss the session this month, falls on my daughter’s birthday, but the regulars at it were very welcoming. I was only one of three dnb tracks (and one was more of a hip hop project), everything else was techno and house, but some really good local production. And it was good meeting a group of people working on their own material.

Sounds really helpful! Did you factor in an empty club / extra reverb etc into your conclusions?

No, did not think about that. There were about 40 people there, but capacity is 400.
