      Hello everyone,
It’s my first time posting here 😀

A few weeks ago, I started working on a new neuro tune and I’m almost finished. I recently switched from FL to Ableton, and I’m still getting used to the new workflow. Maybe some of you could give me some feedback, as I really want to release it soon. Thanks in advance!

      Hey Volain,

Sick tune man, glad someone else is posting in here! Before I provide any feedback, I want to caveat by saying that I am a new producer <1 year, so please take my thoughts with quite a bit of salt. (You can see some of my tracks posted in here on previous feedback)

Quite heavy, but the drums seem to still come through pretty well. I feel like the intro works nicely – I enjoy the kick roll fading into that wiggly bass sound – very cool. I like the main bassline/variations and the main pad sound.

Your 1/2 way breakdown feels like it could spend more time on building up energy before the drop – maybe just 8 or 16 more bars of buildup could help the 2nd drop hit harder.

I feel like the drums get a bit repetitive for me – would enjoy some other percussion in there occasionally or some more fills – just more variation generally. I am less familiar with Neurofunk so maybe more straight drums are common.

      Good shit man!

      Ez Voilan

      – Intro has a really strong musical feel and the listener is drawn in by the classical sound blended with the neuro aesthetic.
      – The drop is absolutey brutal and it’s clear what this tune is about. Bass textures and agressive
      – Arrangement is excellent, changes enough but not too much

The questions for you in your feedback.

Is there room for bringing some more unique identity to the track? So far we hear lots of great sounds, but sounds listeners will be very familar with. This is no bad thing, but you must always have to ask where you can bring the freshness.
This might not be in inventing totally new sounds for every track (if only it was that easy!) but more about bringing in sounds from other styles that at first look might juxtoppose; but actually work.
What if a dub / reggae sample was in a neuro tune? resampled in a tasteful way. Or a neuro reese in a liquid track? or a middle eastern sample with garage bass in a dubstep tune? basically porting something across from another world into the framework of yours to give it unique and memorable ID is a good bit of lateral thinking.
Back in the record shop days you would go in and say to the guy “have you got that tune, you know the one with the crazy flute sample before the drop?” or ” the one with the vocal xxx?”
Obviously with neuro it’s not quite like that, but still trying to bring the unqiue ID into it so it’s not just reeses and distortions and drums can be a great place to build artistic individuality and something that stands out.

In terms of the mixodwn, it’s very strong, powerful, stereo is good.
The fundamental is there in the bass, but those first harmonics 2 & 3 are maybe not as present as they could be to give the tune that really full heavy sound. Scooping them out can lose some solidity in the tune. Joe Ford has talked about this a lot in his SG videos so it could be worth revisting those if you haven’t seen them..

Overall, very powerful, very neuro and well done!
Best of luck with the tune

Thank you both for the detailed feedback 🙂

I will have a look at it and will rework some bits and try to finish it in the next days.
