I have also been auditioning specific synths and sounds.

I suggest watching Ridley’s “Final Cut”. Whatever you do, don’t watch the original theatrical release. Studio execs underestimated audience intelligence at the time, and forced a (terrible) Harrison Ford narration to go over the already finished film. Harrison read it extremely poorly, on purpose, thinking that if it was bad enough, it wouldn’t be used. But it was. Not good.

Yeah I think like any monitors, one needs to reference and understand what they are doing to the sound.

But when it comes to finding the absolute most nose-itching bass, it’s invaluable to me.

I use Senn 650HD and a sub pac 98% of the time, augmented every now and then by an Avantone mixcube.

    Subpac is legit. Highly recommended.

The LFO is not attached to the pitchbend…it is attached to the note #. He’s not touching the pitch when the LFO hits a higher rate on a higher note, he’s literally hitting a key one octave up.

I’m still thinking about this. Not gonna write a half ass answer, so I’m waiting until I can truly commit some time.

I have much to say on this. Before I do, a few questions, asked in earnest:

    1) how long have you been producing with serious intent? Not dicking around, but furiously serious…?
    2) have you set any personal goals? What would you like your efforts to achieve?

I’ll reply more after those answers…
