Man its like 2 steps forward one step back. last one I uploaded got deleted as you can see, that was a step backwards. Its form is still changing hopefully be finished over the next few days. I am a little worried the bass sound at the drop might be annoying/repetitive or abrasive to some as well as the skattery hats? like the heaviness the bass provides tho so still trying to figure out how to keep it interesting. The hats give it the pace so i dont want to get rid of them completely. Do they come across harsh to you guys?

new name few more tweaks and i think i will let this go. It has changed quite a lot from the original idea. It is hard to get perspective of it to think of further improvements. What do you guys think?

Awesome ideas guys will have to try apply some of them. Another we trick i learned recently to blow reverbs up with out affecting the original sound. slap a reverb on say a perc hit with maybe a 2 second decay time turn the mix down really low like 2-5 percent then put fabfilter saturn on it make it two band with the second band starting around the low mids turn the dist gain right down on the low band and then crank up the dynamics knob on the high band now as soon as the source sound dies off your reverb will blow up and have a nice spacey tail that can move in a cool way.

Thanks you for the feedback :). I still need to write that breakdown actually it is pretty uninspiring as it is. You are right though will have to work on some rhythmic element to go there. I get the feeling the drums are too upfront or i need to do some end bar edits or something so it gives your ears a break from the drum loop. just not sure how to move forward and make it sound like a finished track.

Been watching these mixing videos from Matthew weiss.. worth checking out. he goes over a lot of stuff most of us have probably heard a million times watching tutorial videos but he does talk about compression in a interesting way. he says, “Dont think, I need to compress this sound, Think, I want to change the shape of this sound”.

Im sure most of you picked up on this..Noisia the gods of dnb..there tutorial video..nik mentioned about using fabfilter q in midside mode and scooping out the midrange of the mid signal to make said sound.. sound bigger..he mentioned it working best on sounds where the dry signal and reverb are combined..relatively new to midside eq but this is a really cool way to use it

Yes i did see that maztek video..might have to go watch it again..I remember being a little surprised at the time how many layers he used for it..i usually get my worst results when i mix any more than 3 snares together..It is Maztek tho..the man knows his stuff

Thanks for the replay guys definitely some things to think about..I think working faster could be key.. I work very slow trying to make that 32 bar loop as perfect as it can be, usually going back over the same few parts fine tuning them..really its just my ears compressing and becoming fatigued and I am trying to shape my sounds to suit my tired ears..I usually use superior drummer and massive or fm8 so i guess superior could be the organic part but its usually more for the character not so much the punch. feeling ya stepdnb but i guess all this hard work pays off when you finally get a finished track that you are super proud of. would like to check out this rockstar studios video.. do you have a link?
