BOOM BOOM BOOM
Pumped for this, thanks Harry.
C’mon Genies, let’s get some shit rolling, and we can all give feedback.
If you’re producing in a bubble, you are doing it wrong :). Exposure to constructive criticism from invested peers, with actionable feedback on what to work on, is only going to make us better.
I’m in. Much excite.
Genies, make some wow.

,shrikeParticipant,shrikeParticipantLove it.
Love the marked creativity he is bringing to the game.
Interested to hear his take.
_-| get to work |-_
,shrikeParticipantYeah I kinda love that snare too. It’s actually in there the entire time, it’s just that center snare is winning out. Let me fuck with the mix
Good feedback, thank you

,shrikeParticipantMaybe the Sunchase – Intro Approach? In season 4

,shrikeParticipantSo I’m in Hong Kong, getting out a taxi, on my ‘mobile’ speaking to one of my english friends, and I was carrying some dry cleaning on hangers. I’m trying to open the door to get out, but my hands are full of stuff and the dry cleaning starts falling to the ground.
Him knowing where I was and what I was doing, I said to my friend “Hang on Steve, my pants are falling down!”
I got shit for that for a month after that. They thought it was the funniest damned thing.
_-| get to work |-_
,shrikeParticipantLOL, don’t pick on the YANK. You know what I meant.
Tip top t-the tits
It’s been a few years since I have hung around my english friends

,shrikeParticipantRad.
Two things:
1) Absynth is still ridiculously powerful in it’s ability to treat external audio as any other oscillator, and that waveshaper with those tables is tits.
2) Studio One FTW
Nice one

,shrikeParticipantAnd +100000 on member sample library

would be rad to do a preset library.
I’ve got some fresh rippin serum presets that I would love to share.

,shrikeParticipantYES YES YES
I will participate
_-| get to work |-_
,shrikeParticipantHarry you got a link for that exercise? Sounds interesting.

,shrikeParticipantI have a UAD interface. If I had it to do over again, I don’t think I would go that route.
UAD is nice, but I honestly don’t think it’s worth the skrilla. Maybe for those tracking soft rock or whatever, the UAD emulations are incredible / amazing / sound just like the hardware / whatever, but for us, making varying levels of dirty and loud, I think you could better spend your money elsewhere and get more bang for the buck.
_-| get to work |-_
,shrikeParticipantIt could be reasonable performance, but my gut says it could get better. It’s hard to say without actually looking at a project.
Like do those 15 audio channels include tracked or looped audio? If it’s just a loop being played in an audio track it should have a pretty minimal hit, but if it’s, say, a full 5-minute take of drums or bass or whatever, it might start to challenge that 16gb of RAM. If you’re on this site I suspect it’s looped…
You didn’t mention what audio interface (soundcard) you are using…? I suspect that has a big part in it.
That’s a decent proc, you shouldn’t have much issue with that.
What format are your drives? HDD or SSD? That will have an impact.
These are Studio One based, but still relevant to any Windows machine

,shrikeParticipantNice vibe, clean sounds w/clean vox. I really like bg, understated twisty midbass sound.
If it were me I would smooth out that lead bell sound just a bit- it seems to be a smidge too high in vol relative to the other elements that are sitting below it. I get it that it is the hero element, I’m talking about gel’ing it just a slight bit more.
Also, if it were me, I might lay one more long ambient sound under the intro. Very small, very low, just something to help tie all of the intro sounds together. Like a foley or something. A texture sound meant to be ‘felt’ more than heard.
I would also get a little more second octave bass in there. Your low low bass is coming through, but the 70-120hz area feels a little empty.
Nice work!
_-| get to work |-_
,shrikeParticipantAnd I agree 100% with Mind Zero, more and more, every day. A handful of well-selected sounds will always trump heaps of loops and breaks n shit. Then make the sounds fit in their own space. At ~174bpm, everything has to sit well in its own space, and there isn’t a lot of room for slop.
Sound selection and arrangement are arguably more important than any eq, compression, saturation, etc. If you don’t get those first two right, all of those later bits aren’t going to save you.
